Brocolli and Cauliflower Casserole

Rise to the challenge with a simple, nice dish from the ingredients in your garden. This dish is ideal for Easter to share with friends and family.

Ingredients for Broccoli and Cauliflower Casserole

  • 2 cups water

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • 1 ½ to 2 pounds broccoli and cauliflower pieces

  • Milk

  • 4/5 tablespoons butter

  • 4 tablespoons flour

  • Salt and pepper

  • Dash nutmeg

  • 2 tablespoons dry bread crumbs

  • ½ tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1/8 teaspoons paprika

  1. Get a large saucepan and bring the water and salt to the boil

  2. Add the broccoli and cauliflower to the saucepan, cook it all until it feels tender

  3. The cauliflower should now be drained. You can then add the milk to the leftover liquid.

  4. Take the veg and put it in a baking dish

  5. The butter should be melted in a saucepan

  6. Blend in the flour and stir it until it looks smooth

  7. Stir the milk mixture into it

  8. Cook it and stir until the whole mixture is nice and smooth

  9. You can then season with salt, pepper and nutmeg to give it an extra taste

  10. The sauce can now be poured over the broccoli and cauliflower

  11. Stick some butter on top

  12. Put bread crumbs, parmesan cheese and paprika together, then add it to vegetables

  13. Put the lot in the oven at 450 degrees for 20 minutes

This dish serves 4 people, so plenty to go round for having guests over during Easter.
