We all know what it?s like to have a busy day and barely have time for ourselves let alone cooking- when you get home from work you want to just relax and unwind. These 5-minute recipes will help you save time and they are fun and easy to make.
5 minute snack/starter
Shrimp Dip
Shrimp Dip is simple and versatile. Perfect starter before any meal or to be served at a dinner party.
Ingredients
1 can shrimp/prawns
Cream Cheese
1 teaspoon Worcester sauce
1 Garlic Clove- grated
1 lemon wedge- juiced
Zest from ¼ lemon
2 plum tomatoes
1 cucumber
Handful of fresh herbs of your choice
¼ teaspoon of salt
1/8 teaspoon ground pepper
Method
-Drain the can of shrimp, and mash into the cream cheese.
– Add Worcestershire sauce, garlic lemon juice and zest, pepper, and salt.
– Mix, taste, and adjust seasoning’s as needed.
– Add chopped herbs if you like, and mix again.
Prepare base
-Slice cucumbers and tomatoes, and arrange as shown below. Tomato slices should be slightly smaller than the base cucumber slices.
-Be sure to use a very sharp knife, as a clean cut will make this much easier.
Scoop dip onto your base.
Main course
Pepperoni Pizza Wrap
Perfect mid-week dinner for the whole family enjoy and ready in 5-minutes!
Ingredients
1 string cheese
1 medium flour tortilla
2 tablespoons pizza sauce/passata
1 heaped spoon Italian herbs
1 heaped spoon Garlic powder
1 heaped spoon onion powder
Chopped spinach leaves
¼ canned tomatoes- roughly chopped
1 teaspoon of Parmesan
6 pieces of pepperoni.
Method
Set oven to high setting
Break cheese into thirds and put in blender until shredded
Place tortilla wrap in microwave for 10 seconds
Spread sauce onto wrap and sprinkle spices
Top with spinach, tomatoes, parmesan, pepperoni and cheese
Wrap tortilla up, folding sides first and place in microwave for 30 seconds
Serve!
Desert
5-minute Chocolate Cake
This is a 5 minute cake-in-a-mug recipe. It?s quick and easy. Grab a mug and get ready to make the new kind of cupcakes!
Ingredients
4 tablespoons of sugar
4 tablespoons of flour- make sure you measure correctly
1 tablespoon of unsweetened sugar (this is an American recipe- so Hershey?s won?t be available in UK stores- any other cocoa will work)
2 tablespoons whisked egg
3 tablespoons of milk
3 tablespoons of oil
3 tablespoons of chocolate chips
Splash of vanilla flavouring
Method
-Add all the dry ingredients to the mug and mix
-Add the egg and combine well
-Stir in milk and oil
-Add chocolate chips and splash of vanilla, stir well
-Microwave it for 3 minutes in a 1000w oven or 4 minutes in a 700w oven. It will over flow the top of the mug but don?t panic! It collapses once the heat stops.
